Due to my attention being focussed elsewhere, my shop has languished somewhat with very little for sale in it. Well no more!
These are some of the smaller items on offer there at the moment. I am also hoping to offer some textile artworks as soon as I can get round to it.
I have also taken advantage of the very unseasonable weather to dye some threads. It is such a long time since i have experimented with variegated and I have forgotten how pleasing it is to watch how the colours mix and intermingle to create new ones. They are of course natural dyes and the fibre is silk.
Some of these will be available in the shop to buy in due course.

I am continuing to work on the grey pieces and they are continuing to take shape. I have decided to title the group as Fade since each piece is becoming progressively lighter as a passing reference to the title of the exhibition which is 6 Shades of Grey. It is also a reference to my need to move on from leaf printing and return to intensive handstitch. Here are a few details from the story so far.
Spent a very busy few days demonstrating at The Knitting and Stitching Show at Harrogate. Day 1 was focussed on Ecoprinting on fabric. Day 2 was spent in collaboration with Alison Hulme and screen printing with natural dyes. These are some of Alison’s
We are jointly running a workshop at Art Van Go next June on this as part of From the Earth – for more info go to http://www.fromtheearthtextiles.co.uk
The temperature has dropped and its now definitely winter. All the leaves are now off the trees and it is now stitching season. I have been working on the grey pieces for Room 6 exhibition at the NEC next March. This is something of a sneak preview
On Thursday I am heading off to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Harrogate where I will be demonstrating on the Artists in Action stand run by ArtVanGo. There are 6+ artists demonstrating a myriad of techniques there every day so well worth a visit if you are going. I will be doing a bit of ecoprinting and then Alison Hulme and I are going to be demonstrating screen printing with natural dyes.
The exhibition at Romsey Abbey has now been taken down. It was a wonderful place in which to exhibit. I was aware that there was not much opportunity to photograph Metamorphosis 2 since the light was so poor in the Abbey and given that it is my intention to alter the pieces and transform them in some way into Metamorphosis 3, I decided another photo shoot was
At the moment they are not earmarked for anything in particular so the transformation is on the back burner – I have some ideas so its a question of watch this space
Delivered the first of two workshops at the Granary Studio yesterday. Results were stunning!
I think all the participants went home very happy. There is a second workshop next week. I believe there are 2 places still available to book herewww.granarystudio.com
This workshop would probably now only be suitable for those with a little experience
I am also hoping to return in 2016 for spring eco printing.
In actual fact have been going grey since the age of about 24 and the process has yet to be completed. However the reference here is to work I am embarking on currently. It is for an exhibition entitled ‘Six Shades of Grey’ in which I am involved as part of the exhibiting group Room 6 at the Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch Show at the NEC in Birmingham on 17th – 21st March next year. I have collected my fabrics
and dyed the threads
Just the small matter of combining together to produce something. It seems like a long way away, however with 2 other large exhibitions coming up after its as well to get ahead of the game. Watch this space for updates.
